Grand Monthi Fest Celebration by KCA Mysuru 2025

The Konkani Christian Association celebrated the Feast of the Nativity of Mother Mary, popularly known as Monthi Fest, with great devotion and enthusiasm on Sunday, September 7, at their very own Konkan Bhavan in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage, Mysuru.
The celebration began with Father Santa Lopez and Father Prashanth Noronha blessing the new corn, a beautiful symbol of gratitude for Gods abundant blessings. This was followed by a solemn novena honoring Mother Mary. Children and devotees offered flowers in a deeply cherished Konkani tradition.
Father Mervin Noronha then introduced the mass. Father Richard Menezes offered the Konkani Mass, and Father Ajith Rodrigues delivered a touching homily that reflected on the values of faith, family, and unity that Monthi Fest truly represents. The mass concluded with inspiring words of thanksgiving and blessings from Father Oswald Crasta, Father Lancy Lewis, and Father Ivan Sequeira. Along with the other priests, they urged the faithful to carry forward the spirit of devotion, unity, and charity in their daily lives.
A stage program followed the Mass, starting with a warm welcome from the Secretary, Joyce Sequeira. What made this celebration truly special was not just the vibrant gathering of the Konkani community from across the Mysore diocese, but also the Associations deep commitment to helping the less fortunate.
In a remarkable act of charity, Joint Secretary Pramila Monis announced the beneficiaries as the association distributed financial support worth Rs 2,50,000 for the educational and medical needs of underprivileged children. This generous gesture reflected the true spirit of the festival, sharing blessings with the most vulnerable members of society.
Nearly 750 lay faithful, around eight priests, religious brothers and sisters, well wishers, and beneficiaries of the outreach program graced the celebrations.
A major highlight of the event was honoring nearly 35 outstanding students from the community. These high achievers included PhD holders, doctors, chartered accountants, graduates, postgraduates, and top students from PUC and 10th grade. Each student received a shawl, a certificate of appreciation, and a gift to recognize their dedication and hard work.
President John William DSouza delivered the presidential address, and Treasurer Anil Saldanha offered the vote of thanks.
After the stage program, everyone enjoyed a sumptuous traditional lunch blessed by Father Lancy Lewis. Eating this traditional meal together beautifully signified the unity of the community.
The Monthi Fest celebration at KCA Mysuru was much more than a simple community gathering. It served as a powerful reminder that faith and festivity are most meaningful when combined with compassion and service. As Scripture reminds us, every good deed done out of love will be rewarded manifold by God.
