Konkani Christian Association Mysore Celebrates Independence Day and Konkani Manyata Diwas: Mysore, 15th August 2026
The Konkani Christian Association Mysore celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with flag hoisting at Konkan Bhavan, Mysore, at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
The National Flag was hoisted by Association President Mr. John William D'Souza. Addressing the gathering, he paid tribute to the great leaders who fought for freedom and said that it is because of their sacrifices that we enjoy independence today. He urged everyone to remember their contributions and to continue working for the unity and integrity of India.
Konkani Manyata Diwas Observed:
In the evening, Holy Mass was offered at 4:00 PM. This was followed by the Konkani Manyata Diwas celebration at 6:00 PM.
Welcoming the gathering, Secretary Smt. Joyce Sequeira highlighted the significance of the day.
The Association’s new website was formally launched jointly by Association President Mr. John William D'Souza and Mr. Joel Lasrado, Director of ANSELERATE WEB SERVICES LLP, along with Joint Secretary Mr. Sylvester D'Mello who provided all the information needed. General Secretary Joyce Sequeira, Vice President Meena Dias, Joint Secretary Pramila Monis, and Treasurer Anil Saldanha were present on stage.
As a mark of recognition for his contributions to Konkani music, Mr. Edward Norbert Pereira was felicitated by the Association.
The distribution of ID cards to Association members was inaugurated by presenting cards to former Presidents who have served the Association.
Presiding over the function, President Mr. John William D'Souza said that with the support and cooperation of all members, the Association is progressing steadily, and he called for the same unity to continue in the future.
As part of the cultural program, a comedy show was presented by a team from Mangalore. Mr. Nellu Permannur of the team was felicitated with a bouquet.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Association Treasurer Mr. Anil Saldanha. The evening program was compered by Mr. Vincent D'Souza.
